End of week 2

This week has been a good one. There has been inspiration, progression, development and break throughs and its only the end of week 2.

I have used the digital printer for the second time in my duration at uni. Exciting to learn a new skill.  Pattern cut in a new way from marking on the stand using tailors tape. Completely against what I normally do. Biggy considering how anal I am about things.  Using materials I wouldn't normally go for and smashing glass to create beautiful, delicate, linear lines with the resemblance to butterfly wings.
To say I would like the weekend off would be an understatement but no rest for the wicked with a job to do to fund the equipment making the creativity turn into fruition.  To be honest there could be worse places to work then a chocolate shop (Fatty to be!!).

mock shoot

College/Uni open evening = mock shoot :)

Having done photography through A Level and art foundation I loved the chance to put what I learnt back into practice. I actually enjoyed not having to do the photography for once and being able to see how the clothing moved as well as how another person shoots it.

It was a joint effort with the media make-up BA Hons to give them images for their portfolios and vis versa.

The trousers are from my last submission for the season spring summer 2015 and a young market.
I Love the shape they give to the model fellow third year fashion student Rebecca Jelley. The high waisted cut pulls in and elongates her bottom half.
what makes them different though is I have manipulated a Japanese drop hole to create a pocket shape and style lines down the leg leaving the other side normal.  Even though I have not added textiles to the toile I was envisioning print/manipulation growing from the pocket.

I could see my self personally wearing them on a warm day but in a lighter fabric.

My task now is to enjoy a past time looking through fashion mags and finding potential styling ideas with the professional shoot being in a number of weeks.  Its hard being a student sometimes.

Dissertation downer

I think the title tell you all you need to know.

Its that time of year when i really need to get my but into gear. Don't get me wrong i know it has to be done but asking a creative to write between 5000-8000 words is just a chore. Plus side get to write it on something that has inspired me since the names of dali, Magritte and Breton were introduced to me.

Introduction and two chapters that I did during Christmas break have made the task a little better with being 3500 words down. Lets hope today hits me with some writing magic.

with hand in on 24th march I still have just under two months but with hectic studio work to do i'm thinking its better to get it out the way.

Happy blogging :)

Outfit 23.01.2014

Jumper: Charity shop £1 BARGIN, Dress: Primark summer 2013 £12

I love this combination.
Cute and comfortable skater dress in a denim material with the softness of cotton. Decorative yoke with white lace. Great to be dressed up or down. Might not be to every ones tastes but paired with a baggy jumper even though gives a boxy shape really works for me. I have also been know to wear with a belt over the top to emphasise my waist to create a shape.

Just because its technically winter doesn't mean we have to be confined to trousers. I personally find fluffy high denier tights to be very warm sometimes more then trouser. Maybe due to being closer to the skin but heck I don't really know if I am being honest.

Well Today (24.01.2014) I am off to attempt to source some new materials in Bristol for module 3 and potentially some inspiration from fashionable people on the street....wish me luck....x

module 3

apologises everyone for lack of blogging been a bit busy the last few days !!
For the last few days i have been collecting/ sourcing information and creative imagery for the continuation of module 2 into 3. I am developing on linear lines and marbling of colour. For this to continue i am looking into the detail, softness and simplicity that butterfly wings offer.

i hope to do more marbelling like the image above that i posted a few days ago. This one being done on silk will be interesting to see how other natural fibres react.

anyways to stop boring the pant off you. Im off.

Have a good evening everyone :)

Friday 17 January 2014

So today was the day....HAND IN!!.

Its crazy to think in two modules time and a visual culture dissertation and I will have completed my degree in fashion textiles. ARGH

With having already been briefed on the new module (no rest for the wicked) I am very much looking forward to it as its really just a continuation of this module with new added imagery.

Even though I have been briefed you've got to allow for some time off. So this week end alcohol will be consumed. living up to the student reputation....yum

Happy weekend all :)

Thursday 16 January 2014

I must be one of the worst people no post since September. Sorry people but Third year is definitely busy.

Hand in is a number of hours away then only two more modules to go until I finish my degree. Where has the time gone!!

Even though this module has been stressful and testing at times I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The exploration of things I have never used before with resin, Angelina film and the digital printer has developed my skill.

Looking into iridescent colour and spring summer season. Frames have been made for silk painting, designer research has been done, screen printing, button making and laser cutting.

so with this swift post over..... good night blogging world I will attempt to blog more!!
